Manitoba Moose (AHL)

  • 2001-02
  • Size 56 SP knit
  • Neck tagging detail
  • Back hem detail
  • Also worn by Bryan Helmer
  • This jersey is from Paul's first partial professional season. Cabana's pro debut followed quickly on the heels of MTU's 2001-02 season. Paul, a 1998 draft pick of the Canucks, went directly to Vancouver's ECHL farm team, the Columbia Inferno, where he joined Inferno head coach Scott White (former MTU assistant coach), and former MTU teammates Matt Ulwelling and Clint Way. Paul appeared in the last three regular season games as well as the Inferno's first round series which they lost to the PeeDee Pride three games to two. Following Columbia's elimination from the ECHL playoffs, Paul was shipped up to Vancouver's AHL farm team in Manitoba to help the Moose make their playoff run where he joined former MTU players Andre Savage and Jimmy Roy. Paul arrived in time to play in the last four regular season game as well as 6 of the Moose's seven playoff games, before they were eliminated by the eventual Calder Cup runners-up, Bridgeport Sound Tigers..... This jersey was also worn by Bryan Helmer from 9-26-01 to 12-29-01 when he was on loan from the Vancouver Canucks. The best clue to this is the view of the inside of the jersey where it clearly shows a nameplate change..... The jersey features several patches: US / Canada flags on the left chest, Chevrolet sponsor patch on the right chest, Moose alternate logo on the right shoulder and the Vancouver Canucks logo on the left shoulder..... The antler style numbers are three color sewn twill and the name (on nameplate) is single color sewn twill..... Jersey has light overall wear with one repair near the lace up neck..... Supplied with Moose official team letter of authenticity..... Obtained from the Manitoba Moose in May 2002.

  • Size 56 OT Sports knit
  • Lace-up neck
  • Inferno logo shoulder patches
  • Jersey has light overall wear as it was an alternate style..... Numbers are two color sewn twill and the name (on nameplate) is single color sewn twill..... At one time this jersey was offered to us when it contained an autograph on the back numbers. Before we acquired the jerseys, the autograph was removed by another owner. We're still in the process of trying to track down the original owner. There was a photo taken of Cabana with this jersey when the team auctioned it at a fundraiser. If you can provide any info on this jersey, please drop us an email (link below)..... Obtained from MeiGray in May 2005.

Jersey has overall light wear with a few burns and tears..... The underarm gussets are actually two layers of mesh - the first being a large fishnet and the under layer is a much tighter mesh..... Numbers on the arm arms and sleeves are single color twill with a two color sewn twill border..... Name (on nameplate) is a single color sewn twill..... The 2003-04 season was Paul's best in the ECHL as he posted 30 goals and 23 assists in just 63 games..... During the 2+ years Cabana played for the Inferno, he teamed with a host of former Huskies including Head Coach Scott White, Equipment Manager Scott Aldrich, Matt Ulwelling, Clint Way, and Greg Amadio..... • 2006-07
  • Size XXL polyknit
  • First season in Europe
  • Lace-up neck
  • Upon starting his professional career in Europe, Paul made a brief stop in Germany playing 16 games for the Jokers, posting 9 pts. Several years later, Michigan Tech took a preseason tour of Europe and beat the Jokers 3-0 to open their 2010-11 season..... Like most jerseys from Europe, the front, back and sleeves are skating billboards for the various sponsors..... Numbers are name are heat pressed directly to the jersey..... Jersey shows good wear with stick marks throughout and a few unrepaired slices as well..... Obtained from Paul Cabana in March 2012.

November 17, 2001 @ University of Wisconsin Badgers... Right about now Davyduke (#19) is starting to wonder if taking one last poke at the puck lodged under MTU netminder Brian Rogers was such a good idea. In the yearbook, Paul listed "leading by example" as his goal for the season. I think leading with a stiff left would certainly count towards that so we can mark that goal as completed as Davyduke becomes yet another "general casualty." I've heard it stings a little more when you get it handed to you on your home rink...Ouch! (Photos by Ryan Johnson)
