This jersey is from Marty's professional rookie season and also the "rookie" season of the
Western Professional Hockey League. The WPHL was short lived however as it lasted only five seasons
and was unstable throughout its history with teams folding in mid-season in some cases.....
Marty played at Tech the same years I attended MTU and he was one of the guys I pulled for - never a superstar for the
Huskies, but he always seemed to give 100% and was always a thrill to watch.....
Overall the jersey has fairly heavy wear including lots of tears, burns, a ton of stick marks and it appears
the fight strap had the velcro stitching cut away so it could be folded closed permanently.....
The numbers are three color sewn twill as is the name (on nameplate).....
At some point the nameplate was removed from this jersey are there are small holes at one corner of the former location
and the imprint of the lettering can still be seen in the former location.....
Also of note is that the nameplate is air-knit type material, but the jersey is an Ultrafil type material.....
The Bauer logo is embroidered on the back hem.....
Both shoulders feature an alternate logo patch.....
Obtained from a private collector in November 1999.
