If you ask a Tech hockey fan about some of the most memorable former Huskies, certainly Darcy Martini will come to mind.
Although skilled on the ice as well, Martini is best known for the time he spent in the penalty box. He is
Michigan Tech's ALL-TIME penalty minutes leader with 499 PIMs in 124 games. At the time he left MTU, his penalty minute
total was 159 more than the next closest player and this is despite the fact that Darcy only played 17 games his senior year.
Martini also holds other Michigan Tech records for:
most penalties - career (191), most penalties - season (66), and most penalties - single game (7) as well as
most penalty minutes -career (499) and most penalty minutes - season (184).
But in spite of all the physical play, Darcy was also awarded All WCHA Honorable Mention (1992) and the
Bobby Gitzen - Dick Loutit Memorial Award (Outstanding Defenseman) 1990-91.....
