Indianapolis Ice (IHL) |
Bret had a busy first pro season as he played for four different teams in three leagues. Meyers spent the majority of the 1998-99 season with the Columbus Chill (ECHL) playing in 53 games (33 goals 63 assists) before moving on to the Detroit Vipers (IHL) for two games, Indianapolis Ice (IHL) for four games, and ultimately ended up with the New York Islanders top minor league team in the AHL, the first year franchise Lowell Lock Monsters..... Jersey shows light wear, however the jersey shows a namplate change and was also worn by Justin Cardwell who also appeared in four games for Indy..... Numbers are three color sewn twill and the name (on nameplate) is one color sewn twill..... Sponsor patch has been removed by the team..... Supplied with team letter of authenticity..... Obtained directly from the Indianapolis Ice in September 1999. | |
Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL) |
As with any first year franchise, these jerseys underwent some modifications as the season progressed. The jerseys began with three color twill nameplates which had larger size first and last letters. These nameplates were hard to read so they were replaced by single color twill names (on nameplate). As a result of the name change, the numbers were also relocated to a lower position. This jersey in addition had a number change..... The jersey also had a sponsor patch at one point, but this was also removed by the team..... Obtained from Drop the Gloves (no longer exists) in March 2000 and is well documented. The jersey was supplied with a letter of purchase from the Lock Monsters as well as a photo of the equipment manager writing the letter..... |
New York Islanders (NHL) |
Bret arrived in the Islanders system the previous season when he played for their top farm team, the Lowell Lock Monsters. This jersey was recycled from previous seasons as it bears the orange NHL logo on the hem (NHL logo was silver beginning in 1999-2000) and also the size tag in the neck shows signs of a previous nameplate sewing..... The jersey has three color sewn twill numbers and single color sewn twill name (on nameplate)..... The shoulder patch sports four bars, one for each of the Islanders Stanley Cup championships..... Obtained from MeiGray in April 2000. |
Quad City Mallards (UHL) |
Even though this season was Bret's last in pro hockey, his stats continued to be impressive. Bret put up 31 goals and 36 assists to lead the team in scoring to go along with 136 PIMs..... This came on the heels of two seasons with Peoria Rivermen (ECHL) in which he finished second in team scoring for 2000-01 (27 goals, 26 assists) and led Peoria in scoring for 2001-02 (34 goals, 26 assists)..... Good wear on this jersey with eight team repairs, some reinforced from the inside..... Patches on this jersey include two for sponsors (Q106.5 and Iowa Wireless) and a third for the 2003 Colonial Cup..... Jersey has three color sewn twill numbers and single color sewn twill name (on nameplate)..... Oddly, this jersey has no sign of the manufacturer or any sizing. No tagging, or sign of removed tagging is present..... Obtained from a private collector in November 2006. |
