Orlando Solar Bears (IHL) |
This was the first year the Solar Bears wore this alternate style. It shows great wear for a third jersey with lots of puck/stick marks, team repairs, board burns, and over a dozen unrepaired tears and burns. The jersey also features a very unique lettering style (nameplate detail photo). The white textured "glacier twill" (made popular by the Colorado Avelanche) is actually the bottom layer. The aqua/teal color is cut as a negative allowing the white to show through and is then edged with purple twill..... The jersey also shows evidence of a nameplate change. The previous nameplate was at least 2-3 letters shorter. After posting a letter on the Solar Bears chat board, I received a reply stating that prior to Mikesch arriving in Orlando #11 was worn by Dave Smith. This would confirm the smaller name. Dave Smith played 16 games for Orlando in 1997-98 before being traded to San Antonio of the IHL which would make it possible that he too wore this jersey..... Pat left the Solar Bears after one season and during the 1998-99 season he served as captain of the Florida Everblades, a first year expansion team in the ECHL (scoring the first goal in franchise history), and also spent time with the Beast of New Haven in the AHL (see below)..... Obtained from The Detroit Hockey Company in February 1999. | |
Beast of New Haven (AHL) |
Pat's third professional season was split between the Florida Everblades (ECHL) and New Haven. Mikesch put up good numbers for both teams scoring 23 goals and 37 assists in Florida and another 5 goals and 15 assists with New Haven..... Jersey is a mesh / knit and has several uprepaired tears..... Back numbers are single color twill and the sleeves are two color sewn twill. The outer color and the sleeve numbers is extremely wide, almost as if they had planned for three colors and then skipped the middle color..... Name (on nameplate) is single color twill and shows heavy fraying..... Obtained from J and J Distributing in October 2000. |
Kassel Huskies (DEL) |
Nearly the entire jersey is sublimated..... The sleeves are extra thick (view from inside)..... European jerseys are known for using every square inch possible for sponsor ads. This jersey is no exception. It even has a "protex.de" ad patch dewn on the back of the neck..... Another unusual feature is that the jersey has a sublimated DEL logo on the left chest of the jersey, however it has a patch of the identical logo sewn over the top..... The back number and name is sublimated into the jersey..... Obtained from a private collector in October 2003. |
