KY Thoroughblades (AHL) |
I guess in a way this would be Andy's first professional game worn jersey. You have to skate the pregame before you can skate the game right?..... Sutton signed with the San Jose Sharks March 20, 1998 and made his professional debut with the Sharks AHL minor league team, the Kentucky Thoroughblades, at the Beast of New Haven the same day..... Andy's first season only lasted seven games as the Thoroughblades missed the playoffs..... Channel 27 WKYT sponsor logos screened on the front hem and back hem..... Supplied with team letter of authenticity..... Obtained from the Detroit Hockey Company in June 2001. |

Jersey was intended to be for regular season only, but due to a delay with Bauer, the playoff jerseys never arrived and the first set was used for the team's run to the conference semi-finals..... Autographed on left chest below Bauer logo..... Set marked with "99-1" and initialed "HB" by T-Blades equipment manager Harry Bricker on the fight strap..... Shows good wear, but the most noticable are two 12" tears in the neck: View one shows the front of the jersey from the inside where it was torn down to the crest and resewn...... View two shows the back from the inside where it was torn under the name plate and almost down to the numbers..... The numbers are two color sewn twill and the name (on nameplate) is single color sewn twill..... Supplied with team letter of authenticity..... Obtained from the Kentucky Thoroughblades Foundation auction in May 1999.

It could be argued that Sutton's career really got on track at Michigan Tech. When he arrived at MTU, Andy's 6' 6" frame was actually recruited to Tech as a forward. Ove the course of four years at MTU, Sutton saw more and more time on the blueline which was capped off by his break out senior season. After seasons of 3, 4, and 9 points, Sutton lit up the WCHA with 40 points from the blueline in his senior season including 16 goals (10 power play), 24 assists, and 97 PIMs. After being traded from San Jose to the new Minnesota Wild franchise, Sutton again saw time as a forward. The Wild used him to post up in front of the other team's goal as a screener on the power play and Andy chipped in three goals that first season..... On this jersey, the numbers are single color heat pressed vinyl..... Jersey has Channel 27 WKYT sponsor logos screened on the back..... Supplied with team letter of authenticity..... Obtained from a private collector in June 2002. |
San Jose Sharks (NHL) |
* The size tagging has been torn out of this jersey due to severe fight abuse, however based on comparison to other Sutton jersey we have owned, it looks to be about a size 56..... The only neck tagging that remains is an iron-on NHL Player tag..... Andy was up and down between San Jose and the Kentucky Thoroughblades (AHL) throughout the year. He appeared in 31 games with the Sharks and 26 games with the T-Blades. Although, he only gained three assists with the Sharks, he certainly made an impact... one five minute major at a time..... Jersey shows major fight abuse and repairs to the neck area: View one shows the repairs from the front of the jersey, View two shows the same repair from the inside (note the reinforcing), View three shows the back of the neck from the outside of the jersey where it was torn down to the nameplate. There is also a large unrepaired tear on the left sleeve and it appears the sleeves have been shortened as well..... Supplied with team letter of authenticity..... Obtained from Drop the Gloves in September 1999.
Atlanta Thrashers (NHL) |
In the jersey collecting hobby, patched jerseys are often highly sought after items. This one features two: The Dan Snyder memorial patch (former Thrashers player killed in a car accident) and an Atlanta Thrashers 5th season patch..... Although the overall wear of this jersey is light, there is some fight abuse. There is a repair just below the crest that is more than six inches in length and there is a T shaped repair to put the neck line seam back together. These two repairs are clearly visible in this high resolution view of the jersey front.... A few light marks on the sleeves along with a few board burns as well..... The numbers and name (on nameplate) are all done in two color sewn twill..... Obtained from a private collector in July 2006.
